DURHAM’S KING’S DAUGHTERS INN SNAGS AAA DIAMOND RATING & SELECT REGISTRY STATUS

Here is our press release from last week about our new awards! We are so honored to be presented awards from these prestigious industry organizations.

Durham, NC - Durham’s newest, luxury Inn, The King’s Daughters Inn, has recently acquired dual recognition this month from both AAA and Select Registry.

Since the Inn’s opening in 2009, the boutique Inn has gained a local and national following of supporters and patrons. Located in the heart of Trinity Park in downtown Durham, the Inn has the charm of a bed & breakfast including afternoon tea with home made scones and muffins, turndown service with port and chocolate truffles and full, hot breakfast, but includes the modern amenities of a high end hotel (i.e. wireless internet, in room Mini Mac computers, large 42” flat screen tvs and an in house massage therapist).

Select Registry, a group of industry professionals that grades independent bed & breakfasts as well as small luxury hotels throughout North America visited the Inn for it’s anonymous evaluation in March. The organization scrutinizes over 200 qualities of upscale inns, bed & breakfasts and small hotels to seek the “distinguished inns of North America”. The King’s Daughters Inn met the extremely high expectations of the inspector and have been inducted into the Select Registry elite.

AAA awarded the 17 room, Art Deco style Inn as a Four Diamond Rating of Approved Lodging. According to the AAA website, Four Diamond is described as “These establishments are upscale in all areas. Accommodations are progressively more refined and stylish. The physical attributes reflect an obvious enhanced level of quality throughout. The fundamental hallmarks at this level include an extensive array of amenities combined with a high degree of hospitality, service, and attention to detail.” The Inn will be listed in the 2012 edition of the AAA North Carolina Tour Book guide that is released in May.

Trinity Park Is Truly A Treat...

Whoever said "in like a lion, out like a lamb" did not live through pollen season in North Carolina. As Spring approaches and the yellow cloud of pollen settles across the southeast, we are certainly sniffling with tissues in hand! However, with the allergies comes the beauty of flowers, landscaping and fresh grass. Nothing to complain about.

Our little neighborhood of Trinity Park comes alive during the Spring. Tulips, iris and daffodils are thriving along with neighbors enjoying the warm weather. Outdoor activities in the neighborhood include everything from refurbishing furniture to sipping cocktails on the front porch or shooting hoops in the back yard. Our new idea is to get a few rocking chairs so guests can lounge, enjoy some fresh iced tea and enjoy the view of East Campus.

If you are visiting Durham or even are a local, we encourage you to walk around Trinity Park! It truly is one of the treasures of Durham. The architecture is diverse and interesting, the flowers are blooming and the park (yes, there is a park in Trinity
Park) is running rampant with children and parents alike loving the easy, breezy days of Spring.

It's a great day for a bike ride!

Did you know that The King's Daughters Inn has bikes available for its guests?

Samantha and Susan took them out for a spin last Sunday to Rock Quarry Park. Catching the trail to the park was easy; just a short ride down Trinity leads you to the trail entrance. It was a leisurely ride and they had a great time with the bikes!

Come and stay at the inn and you can borrow the bikes too!

AAA Bling!

Last week we felt like a minor league baseball player getting called up to the majors!

AAA awarded the Inn a Four Diamond Rating of Approved Lodging! Not only were we proud of our new status, but we were overwhelmed with positive response and support from our patrons, supporters and local businesses!

We are so proud of our new shiny bling status that we had to post a photo of one of the displays at our "Ask the Experts" event for brides with bling last week! Check out Tre Bella's fantastic jewels!
