Elegant Wedding Luncheon

This past weekend, Lynn & Owen exchanged vows in the parlor in front of their closest family and friends. With a four string quartet accompanying their entry, you could feel the warmth and love in the room.  Not only was there a whole lot of love, but the sophistication of Lynn's wedding was impeccable.  From the amazing ivory color scheme (the anemones were perfect) of the  floral arrangements from Tre Bella to the well appointed linen choice from Party Tables to the DELICIOUS wedding and groom's cake from Cinda's Creative Cakes, this wedding made the Inn look amazing.

Following the ceremony, guests were invited to the Main Dining Room for lunch. Lynn had Yellow House Calligraphy create escort cards that were simple and sophisticated to direct guests to their seats. Everyone indulged in passed hors d'oeuvres as well as a hearty lunch of  short ribs, potatoes and greens from Durham Catering Company

After lunch, Lynn and Owen cut into their raspberry filled cake. The groom's cake was a decadent chocolate cake that looked stunning on the Private Dining Room's side board.

It was a beautiful February day and marked the beginning of wedding season. Thank you to all the wonderful vendors that helped make Wedding #1 of 2012 so lovely! We hope to show you some professional photography from Missy McLamb Photography in the next few weeks!

Congrats to Lynn & Owen!

Wedding Season Begins!

Wedding Crashers Quote:
Jeremy Grey: What do you like better, Christmas or Wedding Season?
[Jeremy raises his hand]
John Beckwith
: Mr. Grey?
Jeremy Grey
: Yes. The answer would be, um, Wedding Season?
[shimmy-shakes]
John Beckwith
: Bingo! I'm gonna get my suit. Now who are we this time?

This weekend marks the opening of wedding season here at the Inn! We are looking forward to hosting Owen & Lynn's nuptials tomorrow and many more happy couples in the coming months!  It is also wonderful to see all the wonderful wedding vendors that do such amazing work.

We will post photos of this weekend's weekend next week for the return of
Wedding Wednesday!

Have a great weekend!

Colin & Deanna's LOVE Story!

One of our happy couples in the Trinity Suite: Photo by Vesic Photography
Deanna Crossman went to Cal Tech University for undergrad and Duke Graduate School for Cell Biology. While she is obviously a smart cookie, she bought an old house in the Wall Town district of Durham to renovate into a gorgeous home.  In the process of renovations, she met Colin.  A Carnegie Mellon University and Duke Law graduate, he had taken on his own house project across the street.  A professor of patent law at Duke, he had always had a passion for historic homes and demolition work! As they discussed their ongoing projects, they began to have more in common than just houses. Love began to grow between them and they got married in 2006.  You would think this would be the end of the story, but following their vows they hoofed it up to Vermont to have their "honeymoon" aka contracting school!  Shortly after their trip, they left their up and coming careers and followed their dreams by purchasing a recently closed elderly women's home in the historic Trinity Park neighborhood of Durham.  From that point on, the newly weds began their work on the 1920's, 17,000 sf building and through an extensive green renovation they created the luxurious, 17 room King's Daughters Inn that stands today.

This is a love story of not only a couple, but a love story of following your dreams.
Happy Valentine's Day!
